Simulating Mobile Apps Workshop
On Saturday, March 9th, the team at TechJobsLA and Mobilek.it hosted their 2nd annual Jobs Fair and I was lucky enough to be one of the workshop hosts. In addition to meeting a lot of really great people I presented a short 1-hour workshop how on to use iRise Studio MX. This is a tool used by designers, product managers, well just about anyone who wants to quickly simulate/mockup an idea w/o having to write a single line of code. Keep in mind these tools are never the end all, be all solution. They are really a communication device for working with other team members within your organization. The reality is that...

Recently I joined Beachbody as a freelance UX Consultant. Beachbody is the creator of the nation’s most popular fitness programs like P90x, Insanity and others. Although I can’t show the actual work (NDAs and all) I can describe the process I’m using. Over the last 8...

Augmented Experience...
This is a short film created by Eran May-raz and Daniel Lazo for their graduation project at the Bezaleal Academy of Arts. The visual effects are impressive, the plot is quirky and humorous and they even managed to capture the right about of gamification but more importantly it asks. Is this...
Hollywood Sign Hike
Today we went for an incredible 6 mile (roundtrip) hike to the top of Mount Lee which took us behind the famous Hollywood Sign. We started at the trailhead located at the end of Canyon Drive, from there we followed the trail highlighted in the Google map below. View Hollywood Sign Hike in a larger map As expected the views were incredible, from downtown LA to Century City and beyond every direction was stunning. I captured a few 360 Panoramas as well. Here’s an example of one, the rest can be found in my panorama collection. The rest of the images include shots of downtown, a horse ranch, the San Fernando Valley, the Hollywood...
Cinespia
Every city has its version of a movie under the stars but last night we joined some great friends for an evening at Cinespia. Cinespia is an outdoor screening venue set in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, so not only are you watching a movie under the stars but you’re lying over a few...
Supercar Sunday
This morning’s turnout at Supercar Sunday was nothing less than incredible, must have been 500+ cars and maybe a thousand people. Today’s marque was pre-1973 Muscle Cars and there was no shortage of horsepower on display. Marque days are days they spotlight different vehicle...
360 Panorama Review
Ok, so I finally downloaded 360 Panorama, yeah I know it’s been out for 2 years or forever in “App-life” but cut me some slack I can’t keep up with every app out there. For those who were like me and haven’t used 360, it’s a brilliant App that makes...
UX vs UI
At least once a week I run across the following question. What’s the difference between UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface)? One approach is to look at them from a level perspective, UX is at the macro-level with many elements making up the overall UX and UI is just one of those micro-level elements. A more entertaining way to look at it is through the eyes of a surfer and since I’m getting back into surfing we’ll use this as the basis of my analogy. The UI Surfing is made up of several components. You start with the equipment a surfer will use: surf board, a leash to keep the board from washing ashore, wax to stay...
iLID iPhone Wallet R...
This is a short review of the iLID iPhone Wallet. The reason it’s short is simply this. I love it! What else is there to say. If you’re in the market to reduce the amount of bulk filling your pockets then look no further. Having recently moved to Santa Monica (yes I’m...
Learning to Surf, Ag...
Having grown up in Florida and living near the beach it was only natural to spend a lot of my high school and college days in the water. From surfing to bodyboarding, catching a wave just came naturally. Well yesterday was my first time surfing in nearly 18 years. Although it is a lot...
